Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, Internet flaming has increased and its impact is notonly in virtual space but also in real society. This paper focuses on three hypotheses regarding the correlationbetween the tendency to participate in praise-type flaming and thetendency to participate invictimization-type flaming. These three hypotheses are: 1) there is acorrelation between the tendency to participate in praise-type flamingand the tendency to participate in victimization-type flaming; 2) there is a correlation between the tendency to participate inpraise-type flaming and specific psychological tendencies; and 3) there is a correlation between the tendency to participate invictimization-type flaming and specific psychological tendencies. A questionnaire survey to test the above three hypotheses isconducted. The psychological items potentially related to a tendencyto participate in the two types of flaming are: feeling of loneliness, impulsiveness, self-efficacy, desire for recognition(frustration), andfeelings of satisfaction. The statistical method used to analyze the collected survey data iscross-tabulation. Odds ratios are calculated as index and chi-squaredtests are carried out to examine the hypotheses. Based on the analysis, all three hypotheses were confirmed.
