[Special Invited Talk] Study on Individual Identification and Tracking of Japanese Cattle by means of Wireless Tags

Abstract(in English) As Japanese Government develops "strong, aggressive agriculture," exports of Japanese beef are steadily increasing. Meanwhile, the shortage of successors in Japanese beef (Wagyu) farmers is still serious, and weakening the production base and lowering supply power are pressing issues. Against such a background, we are making efforts to improve the production and save labor in Wagyu farm. In this presentation, we will talk about the efforts of individual identification of Wagyu beef and tracking breeding cattle in a paddock by means of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) which is one of the power saving wireless standards. These efforts are on-going and have not been technically established, but we believe that it is worth while introducing as an application to the livestock sector of wireless technologies.
