Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study investigated whether the point from which we restart when we have made an error affects the learning of a sequential procedure. We compared All-back method in which participants restart from the beginning of the sequence after making the error and Zero-back method in which they restart from the point at which an error occurred. Based on the sequential button-press task, participants learned button-press sequences made of 9 sets of 2 button-presses ([2 x 9] task) and those made of 6 sets of 3 button-presses ([3 x 6] task) with both these methods. Results showed that, fewer errors occurred and working time was shorter when learning with All-back method for [2 x 9] task, while in the [3 x 6] task fewer errors occurred in learning with All-back method but there was no difference in the working time between these two methods.
