Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recent rapid spread of the Internet has made IP backbone networks more important than before in IP networks. Since IP backbone networks process huge and variety of communication traffic such as data, voice, video, and so on, high level of reliability against network failure is demanding. In this talk, the author explains roles and functions of IP backbone networks, and the changes of the architecture including the related technologies. Furthermore, the author introduces the research and development trends of IP backbone networks toward future networks. The contents are based on an article with same title in the journal of the IEICE on the issue of March 2017.
