Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical fiber line testing systems have contributed to optical cable networks construction, service activation, failure handling, and preventive maintenance work. Recently, to make effective use of underground infrastructures, we developed an ultra-high count and high-density optical cable (2000 cores) that accommodates twice as many cores with the same outer diameter as a current underground optical cable (1000 cores). We also developed a small diameter indoor optical cable using a hole-assisted fiber (HAF) to make in-house distribution invisible. To be able to operate the system continuously, we have developed a new water sensor module for an ultra-high count and a high-density optical cable (2000 cores) and a field assembly wavelength selective termination (FAT) for a new small diameter indoor optical cable.
