A Study on Preamble Associated Phase Ambiguity Compensation of ICA based-SDMA in BLE Systems

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a utilization of preamble associated phase ambiguity compensation of spatial division multiple access (SDMA) based on independent component analysis (ICA) in Bluetooth low energy (BLE) systems. According to BLE specification, preambles of BLE terminals are not orthogonalized each other. ICA is a useful tool to separate spatially multiplexed signals without pilot signals. However, ICA requests sufficient input samples to improve the ability of signal separation. Furthermore, phase ambiguity problems remain in the ICA outputs. On top of that, noise enhancements induced by ICA deteriorates signal detection capability. To solve composite issues, we apply oversampling technique, phase ambiguity compensation with the aid of preamble in BLE packet, as well as successive interference cancellation (SIC) based on Cholesky decomposition. Simulation results demonstrate that the validity of the proposal in terms of the packet error rate (PER).
