| Abstract(in English) | This report describes recent technical topics on optical access systems presented in OFC2017, the world largest optical communications and networking conference. The hot topics are cost-effective optical access solutions for mobile fronthaul to efficiently accommodate 5G mobile data traffic and optical transmission technologies for passive optical networks (PONs) handling data rates beyond 25 Gb/s per wavelength. Steady progress in studies for the realization of future optical access systems, such as coherent-PON and orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM)-PON, has been also reported. |
