Characteristics of Gaze Estimation by Saliency Map Under Bottom-up Attention

Abstract(in English) Saliency map is an estimation model of bottom-up attention which is derived with physical features. However, the measured gaze data always coincides with the saliency map even if the top-down attention is inhibited. The reason of this problem is that the weight of each feature for constructing the saliency map is not suitable. Toimprove the gaze estimation accuracy by the saliency map model, we investigate the relationship between the gazeheat map and visual saliency. The visual saliency are calculated with color, intensity, and orientation features, re-spectively. The Itti’s model is also adopted in the analysis. From experimental results, the visual saliency calculatedwith the only orientation feature was most consistent with the observed gaze data.
