Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An optimal bit allocation to observation signals in digital feedback control systems is developed, where each communication link has a fixed and known delay, does not drop packets, transfers bits without an error, operates synchronously with the discrete-time linear system. When a fixed number of bits are assigned to represent the observation signal in a state-feedback system, the mean squared error (MSE) of quantization of the observation signal is evaluated. We first show that if bits can take real numbers, then the optimal bit allocation becomes a convex optimization problem. We apply the method of Lagrange multiplier to find the solution. Then, to obtain the integer-valued solution, we propose two methods; one is to search by a brute-force method, while the other is to search by a greedy method. Numerical examples are provided to validate our bit allocation.
