Broadband wavelength conversion of PAM-4 signals using a quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifier

Abstract(in English) Optical interconnects based on pulse-amplitude modulation format have been attracting attentions much more along with the dramatically increase of the IP traffic in datacenters. Although a few works about wavelength conversions for datacenters have been reported so far, it will be difficult for the wavelength converters to realize practical use for pulse-amplitude modulation format. In this letter, we propose an all-optical wavelength converter using a quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifier. As a result, we successfully demonstrated efficiently broadband wavelength conversion of 20-Gbit/s pulse-amplitude modulation signals.
