Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For next-generation urban transportation systems, it is becoming a vital issue to develop vehicles that provide assistance to aged and/or handicapped people. Those vehicles should drive in “shared space” where all road users are equal partners. Pedestrians and vehicles will be mixed up pell-mell in spared spaces. Vehicle speed is so slow that it would be difficult for pedestrians to recognize the approaching of the vehicles. People feel that the approach of vehicles by sound is uncomfortable. This paper proposes approaching of vehicles by lights which turns on on the road. Then change lighting distance of lights, we examined whether pedestrian’s behavior.
