Management of Resource Pool Considering Sharable VNF for Service Chaining

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose two optimal methods for managing resource pool in service chaining. In the proposed methods, each type of resource is managed to place each VNF in servers for multiple service chains by solving an optimization problem. Here, we considers two optimization problems. In the first problem, VNFs that are shared by multiple service chains are determined so as to minimize the maximum utilization rate of a resource. On the other hand, in the second problem, VNFs that are shared by multiple service chains are determined so as to minimize the variance of the utilization rate against the target ratio. By solving each problem with genetic algorithm, an appropriate amount of resources can be used for each VNF. We evaluate the performance of the two proposed methods with simulation, and investigate the effectiveness of the proposed methods by comparing with those of other three methods. Numerical examples show that our proposed methods are effective for managing resource pool in service chaining.
