Propagation of ultrasound in a rarefied gas

Abstract(in English) When the wavelength of ultrasound in the gas is small, so that it could be comparable with the mean free path of the gas molecules, the Boltzmann equation would be required for the investigation of the behavior of the ultrasound. We numerically solve the Boltzmann--Krook--Welander equation with a finite-difference method, and clarify the characteristics of the propagation of ultrasound in a rarefied gas.
