Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A survey was conducted for Japanese elementary school teachers, aimed at clarifying (1) what cognitive and behavioral characteristics are found in the writing activities of Japanese children with developmental dysgraphia, and what kind of subtypes of writing disorders exist in the Japanese language, as well as (2) whether a measurement, which was developed based on the subtypes of writing disorders, is valid as a standard for measuring Japanese dysgraphia. The results of factor analysis of the data in the survey showed 4 subtypes of Japanese dysgraphia, namely, “orthographic and phonological lexicon disorders,” “visual disorders,” “phonological disorders,” and “writing control disorders.” A measurement, which was developed based upon the subtypes of dysgraphia, turned out to be valid enough to distinguish between dysgraphic children and normal children.
