Abstract(in English) | In the 5th generation (5G) systems, which are expected to be commercialized after around 2020, new performance criteria like ultra-low latency and low power consumption have been discussed in addition to conventional criteria like large system capacity and high data rate. In order to satisfy the new criteria, the authors have been studying application of the device-to-device (D2D) communications to 5G systems. In this presentation, the authors' outlook about utilization of the D2D communication in 5G systems is explained. Both technical activity and standardization activity mainly in The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) are explained. Based on the activity information, potential ways to utilize D2D communications in 5G systems are explained. |
