Abstract(in English) | In order to construct the Japanese DTTB (digital terrestrial television broadcasting) network on the limited frequency resources, on-channel repeaters that retransmit signals on the same frequency as the receiving signals in SFN (single frequency network) are equipped in some on-air relay stations. In an on-channel repeater, countermeasures against CLI (coupling loop interference) are required. The CLI is undesired feedback caused by the coupling between transmitting and receiving antennas in an on-channel repeater, and it can cause signal degradation and oscillation. To overcome this problem, NHK has researched and developed the CLI canceller as a compensation technology for an on-channel repeater. In this presentation, the principles and basic structure of the CLI canceller are explained. Then the road from basic studies to practical application of the CLI canceller is described. |
