On the Effect of Scale-Free Structure of Network Topology on Performance of Content-Centric Networking

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we investigate the effect of scale-free structure of a network topology on performance of CCN (Content-Centric Networking). Specifically, we generate multiple scale-free and non-scale-free network topologies by two synthetic network generation models (i.e., scale-free tree and generalized BA model). We compare the average delivery delay and throughput of CCN with scale-free and non-scale-free network topologies. Our findings include (1) the average content delivery delays in scale-free networks are much smaller than that in non-scale-free networks, (2) however, the difference in average content delivery delay is not as large as the difference in their average path lengths, and (3) the superiority of the average throughput in scale-free networks to that in non-scale-free networks depends on the network generation model and the distribution of contents popularity.
