Proposal and Evaluation of a Text Entry Method Using Gaze Flick for Ultra Small Devices

Abstract(in English) In recent years, ultra small devices such as smart watches and wearable devices have become widespread, many ultra small devices are equipped with a touch panel and are designed assuming that hands are available. Therefore, in case the hand is unreliable since hands are occupied or for handicapped people, it is thought that interface that can input even in that situations is necessary. In this paper, we propose a text entry method that can input Japanese characters with 2 strokes by gaze utilizing the gaze trackable area. In preliminary experiment, after investigating the accuracy of distinguishing the area outside the specific area, we considered the divisional design of the area. We proposed two new text entry methods and evaluated the performance in experiment.
