Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Towards the development of silent speech communication, there has been studied a statistical approach to enhancing nonaudible murmur (NAM), which is an extremely soft whispered voice detected with a special body-conductive microphone. Although the body-conductive recording is relatively robust against external noise, NAM detected under noisy conditions easily suffers from external noise due to its very faint volume, causing significant performance degradation in the statistical enhancement process. Our previously proposed noise suppression method based on external noise monitoring and constrained non-negative tensor factorization (NTF) is capable of significantly reducing the external noise but it doesn't always yield significant improvements in the enhancement performance. To address this issue, in this report we propose a noise suppression method using a regularization on NAM segmental features to be used as the input feature in the NAM enhancement. The experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed method is effective for improving the enhancement performance.
