Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a filter design method that enables three-dimensional (3-D) directivity control by using a circular loudspeaker array. Digital filters for the circular array can be designed in the circular harmonic domain as the array is expressed in cylindrical coordinates. However, directivity control in 3-D space cannot be considered because its bases in the circular harmonic domain are expressed only on the x-y plane. Therefore, we measure 3-D directivity patterns when a prototype circular loudspeaker array is driven by each circular harmonic mode. We propose a filter design based on the combination of the measured 3-D directivity patterns as well as a method to suppress filter gains at low frequencies by limiting high order using the L1-norm optimization. We conducted a directivity simulation and a sound distortion experiment to confirm the performance of the proposed method. Our results showed that the proposed method performed better the 3-D directivity control and sound reproduction with little distortion than previous methods.
