A Vehicle Approach Warning System Using V2V Communication via Cellular Communication system.

Abstract(in English) This paper describes the system construction and the performance evaluation of a vehicle approach warning system using V2V communication via Cellular communication system. The vehicle approach warning indicates an alarm when vehicles equipped with the system close within 50m, and cancels the alarm after the vehicles separate. For the performance evaluation, a RTT measurement system was constructed and the communication performance of LTE communication system on the area of “Premium 4G” and “LTE” provided by NTT docomo was evaluated In ITS FORUM RC-006 in Japan, data transmission period of a vehicle in V2V communication is desirable within 100ms when driving at 60km/h. On the evaluation in the real use situation, packet transmission delay which is less than 100ms packet transmission delay is 95% in the proposed system. Although the proposed system can‘t achieve the requirement of RC-006 slightly, the authors show that the reason is caused by processing speed of the application.
