Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this research we report a method for calculating and displaying candidate emergency evacuation routes and their associated evacuation times on a map. These times are fuctions of the starting location, the optimum evacuation site and on details of each possible route. However conventional calculations only consider an average walking speed, independent of critical factors such as road conditions and topography. This results in inaccurate and dangerously misleading estimates. We present an improved calculation method which takes into account road inclination, road surfaces and the presence of obstacles such as steps. These are represented scaling parameters on the base flat-surface walking speed. Four values for this road environment parameter are derived experimentally for two different slopes (1.11 and 1.12), for a gravel-surfaced road (1.24) and for an extended flight of stairs (0.32).
