Can 'Hikari Denwa' go beyond PSTN ?

Abstract(in English) An optical access systems can provide optical services economically due to adopt PON architecture in which several ONUs share one OLT via optical power splitter. Optical communication systems can provide high-speed and large-capacity services using high-performance of optical fiber. On the other hand, in blackout, there is a subject that cannot provide services because ONU cannot be controlled by OLT, which is not a subject in metal communication systems. In this paper, we propose ‘non-power-supply optical communication technology’ from the view point of ‘reservation of lifeline’ and describe the importance of ‘basic knowledge’ and ‘collaboration of various field technologies’. Furthermore, we explain the application of proposed technology for IoT which is recent keyword form the view point of wired networks.
