Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Commercial force sensors are used for a risk judgment of pressure injuries. Measurement data of the sensors bring information about a magnitude and a direction of normal and two orthogonal shear forces, respectively. We have been developing a novel capacitance type force and displacement sensor that enables simultaneous measurement of a torque around the vertical axis as well as normal and shear forces on the skin surface. However, the developed sensor has a problem with a difficulty of a multi-dimensional output estimation due to effects of nonlinear input output characteristics. In this study, we have developed two displacement estimation methods using polynomial and support vector regressions in that kind of nonlinear sensor and made the comparison between estimation errors by the two methods. Averaged full scale errors were 0.016% and 0.088% in the estimation methods by polynomial and support vector regressions, respectively. It was confirmed that the estimation method by polynomial regression was a better technique from the view of the estimation error.
