A Proposal of Fast Haze Removal Using Box Filter and Transmittance Correction

Abstract(in English) In the natural scene, the visibility of objects is affected by the haze such as fog. Image processing techniques for haze removal from images have been researched so far. In the haze removal based on the observation model, the transmittance of ambient light is needed to obtain the clear image. However, it takes much time to estimate the transmittance precisely from a single image. In this report, we propose a novel method to obtain the precise transmittance fast by applying the box filter and the intensity correction to the minimum channel of the input image. The calculation cost of the box filter does not depend on its filter size by using the integral image. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the some experiments.
