Measurement of Mutual Impedance of Dipole Antenna by the S-Parameter Method

Abstract(in English) Recently, the S-parameter method using a vector network analyzer and a measurement jig instead of a balun was proposed whereby the differential input impedance of a balanced fed antenna was obtained. Because the balun or hybrid circuit is not used for the S-parameter method, it is possible to measure impedance over a wide bandwidth. In this report, mutual impedance of two dipole antennas aligned parallel is measured by the S-parameter method while changing the distance between the antennas. The measured value is compared with a calculated value by King and the calculated value using the FDTD method, and examination of the result of a measurement is carried out. As a result, it is shown that the measured value reasonably agrees with the calculated values by King and FDTD method, when offset of antenna position is less than about half wavelength.
