Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | When playing musical instruments such as piano and drums, it is important to move multiple motor organs (i.e., hands, fingers and legs) simultaneously and produce synchronized sound. How does our brain control multiple body parts when synchronizing their movements? In the present study, we aimed to clarify the brain mechanism for realizing and maintaining simultaneity in simultaneous motor tasks by analyzing the temporal characteristics of tapping. We also examined the abilities of temporal order judgements for auditory/ tactile stimuli, and their relationship to the simultaneous tapping. The results suggest that the simultaneous actions by two motor organs may be executed so that the sensory feedback signals of the actions reached the brain at the same time. |
