[Encouragement Talk] VNF Placement Algorithm Considering Traffic Change Rate and VNF's Dependences for Service Chaining

Abstract(in English) In service chaining, the amount of traffic changes when data is processed with a virtual network function (VNF) depending on the type of VNF. Moreover, the dependence among multiple VNFs in terms of the processing order has to be satisfied. As a result, it is expected that VNFs are placed over communication networks so that the amount of traffic in each link decreases. In this paper, we propose a VNF placement algorithm considering traffic change rate and VNF's dependences for service chaining. In the proposed algorithm, with a heuristic algorithm, we derive a solution for the optimization problem where the maximum amount of traffic and the number of VNF instances are considered. In numerical examples, we show the effectiveness of the VNF placement with the proposed algorithm by comparing the proposed algorithm with other methods.
