Development of interface for screen operation to support smooth ICT utilization in elementary and secondary education

Abstract(in English) In the elementary and secondary education, a teacher often gives a class while watching the screen of computer and operating keyboard and mouse downward, and the chance that a teacher comes face to face with the students tend to reduce in the class with audiovisual teaching material. Therefore, teachers have difficulty to perceive the state of the students and the understanding level of the class, which affect the progress of the class. To solve these problems, we have proposed and implemented the prototype of the interface for screen operation with interactive gesture input. The interface is lightweight, compact and enables to walk freely around the classroom. In addition it has the pointing function on the screen by the motion of two fingers using sensors. By using the interface, we have given the class using the audiovisual teaching materials and have verified the effect on facilitation of class.
