| Abstract(in English) | Among recent research and development trends on speech and audio coding, two international standard schemes are introduced. One is lossless audio coding, ISO/IEC MPEG-4 ALS (Audio Lossless), which was established in 2005, and may be adopted in the high-quality audio service in the Japanese Ultra High Definition satellite broadcasting and IPTV in the near future. The other is 3GPP EVS (Enhanced Voice Services), which was established in 2014 and has been deployed for high quality mobile phone service (VoLTE HD+ in Japan) in the world since 2016. Additionally, past and future of the R&D of speech and audio coding and some topics on roles of fundamental signal processing tools such as linear predictive coding technology will be covered. |
