Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Free WiFi connecting services are popular and mandatory, especially for regional development of rural areas. But the service seems to have severe tradeoffs between usability and security. An easygoing design might pose a severe threat, while the security-emphasized design may prevent tourist from using the system. In this paper, the author presents a solution that improves the security level of free WiFi connecting services by attaching so called “dummy clients” to the system, aiming to find an “evil twin” access-points rapidly. The system is running at certain public facilities in rural area as a long-term beta test.
