Performance Evaluation on V2X Communications by LTE for Crash Warning Application

Abstract(in English) In Crash Warning Application which is considered as a key application in ITS (Intelligent Transport System) vehicles and pedestrians are broadcasting their individual location information. In order to employ LTE for V2X communication method, we have to evaluate its communication-latency. In this paper, we propose a performance evaluation model for assessing LTE communication-latency with considering broadcast mechanism of both V2X communications and LTE method. The result shows that total LTE bandwidth should be asymmetrically divided into that of uplink and downlink, then increasing number of sectors of base station is effective on V2X communications. Numerical results show that the number of the sectors changing from 2 to 3 brings communication-latency reduction from 90 msec to 70 msec. Up to 1260 vehicles or pedestrians can be accommodated with keeping the required maximum communication-latency of 100msec.
