Study on estimation of spot welding diameter using non-contact acoustic inspection method

Abstract(in English) Currently, welding methods called spot welding are used for welding of cars and train bodies. Spot welding has characteristics such as low distortion at the welded position and fast welding speed. The strength of the welded part of spot welding is determined by the weld diameter. Destructive test such as tensile test is the main method for inspecting weld diameter. However, the destructive test has a problem that cannot be only a sampling test. Therefore, we are studying inspection methods using sound wave and laser Doppler vibrometer. The inspectioned target is excited with acoustic waves and the weld diameter is estimated from the phase difference of the vibration around the welded position. The advantage of this measurement method is that can measure non-destructively and non-contactly.
