Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Viologen-type ionic liquids (VILs) are molten salts consisting of viologen dication as a redox species with a chemically reversible electrochemical reaction. VILs are expected to be electrochemical materials with an electron hopping conduction and a high redox reaction density, because VILs play a role of a solvent and a supporting electrolyte. However, it is difficult to decrease the melting point because of the dication attracting with counter anions and rigid structure of bipyridinium. In this study, we have investigated the molecular design of VILs for low melting point and the electrochemical properties. |
