Optimal Placement of Anchor Nodes for Minimizing Localization Error

Abstract(in English) When a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) collaborativelylocalizes a target node on the ground or in a building, they can hover at any places in the air, so the localization error of the target node largely depends on the location errors and formation of the UAVs. In this paper, we first derive the probability density function (pdf) of ranging error taking the location error of anchor node (UAV) into consideration, and then present the Cramer-Rao lower bound on the two-dimensional localization error of a target node with the derived pdf. Finally, we theoretically show the formation of UAVs which can minimize the location error.
