| Abstract(in English) | We investigated the effectiveness of a picture book-search intervention on mothers with infants and toddlers. Sixteen mothers used Pitarie, a book search system which enables mothers to find picture books suitable for their child’s interest and age, and completed questionnaires regarding their book-search experience before and after the usage. The results showed that Pitarie’s user-friendly interface and search functions facilitated mothers to find appropriate picture books for their child. Additionally, follow-up interviews with mothers revealed that Pitarie enhanced their motivation for searching and reading picture books through expanding their choices of picture books. These findings suggest that Pitarie could improve the quality of picture book selection and promote mother-child picture book reading. |
