Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a filter which removes spike-like noise from an fNIRS signal using an algorithm based around a first-order lag system. Optical topography scans used in the diagnosis of depression can be corrupted with spike-like noise; a diagnostic noise which disturbs the feature values of the centroid and the integral value used for diagnosis. Spike-like noise is recognized by a moving correlation focusing on the synchronization of oxy-Hb and deoxy-Hb in the fNIRS signal, while it's strength is judged from the depth D and width W of spike-like noise dip. Spike-like noise was removed using a first order lag algorithm parameterised by the D and W parameters identified by the moving correlation. As a result of the estimation by this proposed method, the influence of spike-like noise can be eliminated by +59% in the forehead and +75% in the temporal region, as compared with the conventional method. This suggests that the proposed method reduces variance at diagnosis and improves classification accuracy. In addition, it is not necessary to redo the diagnosis due to excessive chewing, and simplification of diagnosis can be expected.
