Fundamental study on simplified estimate of buried object

Abstract(in English) Detection of underground objects is important in civil engineering projects. In this research, simple location estimation of underground materials using electromagnetic waves is discussed. An electromagnetic wave pulse radiated from one transmitting antenna is received by four receiving antennas. The method of estimating the three dimensional position of the buried object and the relative permittivity of the soil by using the least squares method with respect to the arrival time of the reflected wave from the object is shown. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by using observation data of reflected waves by metal objects buried in sand.
