Output Power Enhancement by Optical Pulse Compression in Photonic-Based RF Generation

Abstract(in English) Microwave and millimeter-wave generation based on photonic technology is promising for many applications. In this technique, RF output power is limited by the maximum optical power to the photo detector. In this manuscript, we propose to use optical pulse compression in order to enhance the output power. We make an experiment of measurement of phase noise in order to confirm the quality of RF output when the RF output is enhanced. Furthermore, we examine the suitable modulation condition of optical modulator for higher RF output.
