Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) According to the increase of optical transmission rate, the usage of single-mode optical fiber is increasing. For the easy wiring of the large amount of single-mode optical fibers, multi-fiber optical connectors become to be utilized widely. In this report, we fabricated and confirmed the splice characteristic of the 84-fiber high count single-mode MT connector which has the maximum number of fibers for a familiar interface with standardized MT connector. The fabricated connector had a low average insertion loss of 0.40 dB. We also confirmed the possibility of 84-fiber high count MT connector with low maximum connection loss of less than 1 dB.
