Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The age of the Internet of things (IoT) that enables many devices to communicate one another is coming. The number of communication devices powered by batteries is increasing, and the demand for energy-efficient communication is also increasing. In control systems over communication networks, however, performance degradation may be caused by the energy-efficient communication. There are various power-saving techniques in communication networks, e.g., sleep mode. While a longer sleep period achieves a more energy-efficient system, it increases delay and information loss, which is unsuitable for networked control systems. In this report, we utilize the Kalman filter for the state estimation in a networked control system including sleep technique. The state estimation mitigates the effect of sleep mode on the control performance. The proposed method achieves both power saving and high-precision motion control by appropriately designing the Kalman filter considering sleep conditions. Simulations confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
