Abstract(in English) | Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) has been extensively studied for in-vivo biomedical diagnosis. In this study, we developed an MPI system using multiple pickup coils, which is capable of imaging three-dimensional distribution of magnetic nanoparticles (MNP). In the experiment, we performed the three-dimensional MPI experiment using five pickup coils. Two MNP samples containing 40 μg(Fe) of MNPs were arranged by a spacing of 15 mm in xyz coordinate. An excitation field with a strength of 1.5 mT at 3 kHz and a DC gradient field with a field gradient of 0.2 T/m were used. A third harmonic signal generated from the MNP samples was detected with five pickup coils, and the samples were two-dimensionally scanned to obtain field maps. Then, the field maps were analyzed using the nonnegative least square method to reconstruct a three-dimensional distribution image. We successfully estimated the three-dimensional positions of the two MNP samples with good accuracy. We also performed simulation study to investigate the feasible spatial resolution on MPI. It was shown that the spatial resolution of 10 mm can be realized at the depth of 50 mm when signal-to-noise ratio of 20 is realized. |
