Resource Allocation for Balancing Sum-Rate and Fairness in Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Systems

Abstract(in English) Power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has attracted a great deal of attention as one of the candidate techniques for future radio access, where the signals to multiple users are multiplexed on the same frequency resource. NOMA schemes have a trade-off between sum-rate of the system and minimum per-user rate, and the trade-off depends on resource allocation to each user. This paper proposes a new resource allocation which maximizes the minimum per-user rate under the constrain of sum-rate. The proposed bandwidth allocation controls sum-rate, and the proposed power allocation maximizes minimum per-user rate. Simulation results show that the proposed resource allocation improves the trade-off between sum-rate and minimum per-user rate compared to the conventional sum-rate maximization approach.
