Analysis of PLC Transmission Characteristics Using Long Fixed Period Superimposed Chart

Abstract(in English) PLC (Power Line Communications) may be able to be a major communication system for next generation LAN (Local Area Network). However, the detail of its packet communication character is not clarified. The authors adapted packet capture analysis method, and proposed the new chart named “Long Fixed Period Superimposed Chart” and its making algorithm which superimpose captured timestamps of received packets in specific period. In this paper, experiments and analyses using HD (High Definition)-PLC adapter are conducted. As a result, a transmission timing jitter of beacon signal in the power line is clarified. Moreover, a visualization and an analysis of the jitter via computer network with long fixed period superimposed chart are achieved.
