Analysis of Charge/discharge Properties of Si Anode-vased Hybrid Capacitor Using Three-electrode Type Cell

Abstract(in English) To further increase the energy density of Li-ion capacitors (LICs), we have been developed the assembly of a new high energy hybrid capacitor (Si-CAP) using Si negative electrode (NE) with the a high theoretical capacity (4,200 mAh g-1), which is 10 times larger than that of graphite one. As a result, the cell performance was quite influenced by the Li pre-doping method, and so far use of additives and VPI treatment were found to be effective for improvement of the charge/discharge properties especially for the specific capacity and cycleability. Owing to the Li pre-doping technique, a high energy density of > 100 Wh kg(NE + positive electrode (PE))-1 was achieved and confirmed to be kept over 800 cycles. In this study, for aim to enhance the high performance we investigated each potential of NE and PE by using three-electrode type cell to clarify the charge/discharge and capacity fading mechanisms of the Si-CAP cell.
