A study on feedback path re-estimation method under active noise control

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a method detecting the increase of the cancellation remainder of the feedback path under active noise control. The feedback path is inevitably formed in feedforward type active noise control systems detecting the reference noise with the noise detection microphone, which is generally canceled by the feedback control filter. The occurrence of howling can be thereby prevented. The feedback path, however, cannot be completely canceled. The remainder of the cancellation increases non-minimum components in the optimum noise control filter reducing the output of the error microphone to zero, which deteriorates the noise reduction effect. We also show that increase of the remainder can be recognized from the power gain of the auxiliary filter identifying the allover path from the noise detection microphone to the error microphone by using computer simulation.
