Characteristic Evaluations of TV-wave Human Detection Systems around Vehicles under Actual Environments

Abstract(in English) Recently, the number of car vandalism has been decreasing, but the number of its damage is over 20000 for a year. In such a circumstance, it is important to develop security measures of the car. Our research group had proposed the human detection system using UHF band TV waves. Currently, we have studied the application of the detection system not only in indoor but also in outdoor environments, and tried to apply the detection system to the security measure of the car. In this study, we investigated detection performances for various distances between vehicle and human, and the system performance under conditions with or without vehicles on both sides, for the purpose of clarifying the detection characteristics around vehicle in real environments. As a result, we found that detection probability tends to be high according to attenuation and reflection of the TV wave due to human motion, depending on propagation direction of the TV wave. And we also clarified that detection characteristics with the vehicles on both sides are almost similar to those without vehicles around the system.
