Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Implant BAN (Body Area Network) realizes wireless communication from a transmitter inside a human body to outside receivers on the surface of the human body. The weak radio band at dozens of MHz has so far attracted much attention as one of promising candidates of frequency bands for the implant BAN. A wireless capsule endoscopy system, which is one of the implant BAN applications, requires real-time high-resolution image data transmission with high reliability. However, there is a problem that the quality of transmitted image data is significantly degraded due to heavy attenuation from the human body. For evaluating the quantitive image quality transmitted by the 30 MHz-band implant BAN transmission, we introduce SSIM (structural similarity) as an image evaluation index, which is highly correlated with subjective evaluation. In addition, based on computer simulations, we quantitively investigate the relationship between the communication performance and image quality.
