Abstract(in English) | In mountainous country like Japan, sand-and-stone avalanches caused by torrential or prolonged rainfall often result in a heavy damage to people and residents in surrounding area. Data need to be collected from a large area in order to effectively forecast disasters. However, due to high mountains and deep forests, data transmission is very limited. In this study, we propose a rainfall monitoring system utilizing 420MHz LoRa. Rainfall, water level measured at mountain areas is transmitted through 420MHz LoRa to a server. The evaluation results clarified that 420MHz LoRa are capable of transmitting through 47.5km line-of-sight distance and 3.5km non-line-of-sight distance. We also implement a packet sequential retransmission method to increase system resistance to noise. |
