Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Nowadays, the number of elderly people who live alone is increasing in Japan. So, there are urgent needs for monitoring their activities to detect accidents indoor. There are systems that use camera or wearable sensors. However, they have disadvantages such as the privacy invasion and the physical burden. To overcome these issues, we have proposed a monitoring system using array antenna, which can detect the change of radio wave propagation caused by human body motions. By extracting features that indicate the changes of radio wave propagation, our conventional method can detect activities including falling after standing with high accuracy. However, when we detect falling after walking, the fall detection accuracy deteriorates. Also, when tracking time series activities, we decide the activity only if it continues more than multiple times. In this case, it is need to set threshold for each activity by experiments. In this report, to improve the fall detection accuracy even after walking, we propose new features obtained by analyzing Doppler signals observed with array antenna. Furthermore, we propose a method of tracking time series activities based on the class assignment probability by a classifier to eliminate the need of setting thresholds. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed features and the method of tracking time series activities improves the fall detection accuracy.
